Are you having a last minute party at home? Do you need a certain colour of cake stand but can't find one anywhere? Today we are chatting on making sweet table props with things around the house or down your street at the local store.
1. Look around the house for ribbon, glasses, candle holders, plates, wrapping paper....
2. Grab yourself some tape, scissors, glue (heavy duty), a pen...
3. GET CREATIVE
We decided to grab a black and white plate to bring out some darker contrast to our cake. I also found a gold candle holder. Simply set the plate on top of the holder and Voila....a new cake stand. Glue that badboy together and set the cake on top. Obviously depending on the size of cake pick your plate size accordingly.
For our mini cakes and even cookies if you want them on a riser you can use anything from a cup in your cupboard, a flower pot or even a shot glass.
The bottom of our pot was a bit ugly and filled with logos so we took a floral ribbon traced the bottom of the pot and cut out the ribbon to fit on top so that we were left with a clean surface and design.
We also found some cute floral paper cups we used as decorative cake stands. For cake pops you can even flip a shot glass!
PLATES - TABLE TOP
Last but not least and probably the most accessible - Plates! White always works so find yourself a few staple long plates and get your cookies and other small desserts set up on those. If you want them a little higher elevate them with a box lid! The options really are endless. You can even use your paper to cover those box lid risers.
With our pretty floral printed wrapping paper we covered our counter top since the counter colour was not desirable for our party theme! Hope this mini Sweet Stylin' session will help you for your next little gathering!
